Actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan will lose the election no matter which constituency he contests from, said TDP MP from Vijayawada, Kesineni Nani, adding that Pawan’s brother Chiranjeevi’s Praja Rajyam could only muster up to winning 18 constituencies in the erstwhile state of Andhra Pradesh. Pawan is only a film actor and the turnout of people at his rallies is basically on account of this factor, he said. Pawan should know the difference between this transitory phenomenon and political strength, Nani added. He should also first figure out what is good for him and what is not.

Another member from the Telugu Desam Party and Minister of excise for Andhra Pradesh Jawahar also raised his voice against Pawan. He said Pawan was making comments against Chandrababu Naidu only to divert public attention from the lapses of Bharatiya Janata Party . Apart from trying to get Chandrababu defeated in the election, he is not concerned about the issues of Andhra public, he observed. He said that the statement by Pawan that TDP candidates are going to spend Rs.25 crore in each constituency to win the election is false. The ruling party leader compared Pawan Kalyan's campaigning to the heydays of Praja Rajyam and accused Pawan of going around in Andhra Pradesh to meet people for a short spell and then returning to Hyderabad.

The people of AP were not gullible to fall for the likes of Pawan Kalyan, he said. On the other hand, Pawan has stated that if he hadn't supported TDP, the party could not have won the election of 2014 and YSR Congress party chief, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy would have been the Chief minister of Andhra Pradesh in the elections at that time.
