Vijayawada: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Andhra Pradesh unit President Kanna Lakshmi Narayana slammed Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly crediting Congress party of doing justice to the state. Chandrababu, who in the past four years had blamed the Congress for betraying the people of the state, was now trying to befriend the national party for political benefits, he remarked. It was unsafe to have a CM who is behaving like a mentally retarded person, the state BJP president observed.

The TDP Chief seems to have forgotten the fact that BJP was instrumental in adding the seven mandals from Khammam district, which come under the Polavaram project's catchment area, he remarked. The Polavaram project would have remained a dream if Prime Minister Narendra Modi had not taken any action on the catchment areas, he said.

Without prior permission from the centre, the state government had exponentially increased the estimated costs of the Polavaram project, Kanna alleged. Although Chandrababu always complains of pending bills to the tune of Rs 1,950 crores for the project, an RTI plea on the Polavaram project expenditures revealed that the central government does not owe a single rupee to the AP government, he noted. Chandrababu is the primary barrier for all the developmental works in the state, including the proposed Kadapa steel plant, he criticized. Now that the TDP leaders know about the centre's plans to setup the steel plant, they are trying to mislead the people with their fake protests, he alleged.
