Political Parties To Step Up Fight For Special Status

Leaders from political parties — CPI(M), Aam Aadmi Party, Lok Satta, Congress equivocally expressed their displeasure over the step-motherly treatment meted out to Andhra Pradesh.

Vizianagaram: Leaders of NGOs, intellectuals, elected representatives and students attended a discussion programme 'Hodhakosam Yendhakaina' and shared their opinions and inputs for Special Category Status here in Vizianagaram district headquarters on Saturday. The discussion programme, which was hosted by Sakshi media group, was chaired by senior journalist Kommineni Srinivasa Rao. Leaders from political parties — CPI(M), Aam Aadmi Party, Lok Satta, Congress equivocally expressed their displeasure over the step-motherly treatment meted out to Andhra Pradesh.

All the party leaders expressed their anger over the attitude of Union Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju who represents Viziangaram constituency in the Parliament. The speakers demanded the resignation of union minister Ashok Gajapathi. They wanted him to join the struggle for Special Category Status for AP.

The speakers found fault with the minister for luring people in the name of budget planning. They questioned Ashok Gajapathi Raju as to why the latter did not raise any objection over MLA defections in the state. The TDP-BJP which had promised the people of developing the state on the lines of all other states and major cities, did injustice to AP by ignoring its needs, the speakers opined.
