Police Transport Org SP suspended for misconduct

The State Government today suspended Superintendent of Police (SP) of the Police Transport Organisation (PTO) Lakshminarayana for misconduct. The SP was charged with enacting a high drama of kidnap recently in collusion with the recently dismissed constable Giri Prasad Sarma in the same police wing.

In an episode that caused sensation among the police circles recently the now dismissed constable allegedly abducted the SP and held him hostage in his (constable’s) house for well over four hours. The constable said to have resorted to the step as he was left with no alternative but to kidnap the SP as the police top brass had miserably failed to bring to light the large-scale irregularities in the Police Transport Organisation.

Though the police top bosses, including the Director General of Police immediately reacted to this. But, finally it all tuned out to be a high drama enacted by both the SP and the constable to expose some senior officers, allegedly involved in the scam. Treating this as a misconduct in a department which is known to have at least a semblance of discipline, the higher authorities first suspended the constable, Sarma, and later dismissed him. He was remanded in custody only yesterday for threatening to take out a motorcycle rally to exposé the officials in the racket.

Today, the axe fell on the senior most officer in the PTO, the Superintendent of Police.
