Ongole: False cases were foisted against women for opposing liquor shops in the village, residents of Malepadu told Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

During the Praja Sankalpa Yatra, on Tuesday, the YSRCP president interacted with women of Marpedu where they poured out their grievances against the high-handedness of the TDP government. They urged YS Jagan to ensure the removal of liquor shops in their village. After giving a patient hearing to their woes, he said that the YSRCP government would implement prohibition in the state in three phases in response to the demand of women in the state.

At Lingamgunta, farmers rushed to meet YS Jagan and air their grievances. "We are unable to make any profit on the crop and the state government is not lending a helping hand by providing minimum support price for the produce," the farmers said. Reassuring them, YS Jagan said the YSRCP government will redress the grievances of the farmers as a top priority. He said that he raised the issue of farmers' plight in the state Assembly on several occasions. "The state government is more concerned about commissions than the welfare of the farmers. This is evident from the delay in completion of irrigation projects. Also, the administration does not respond when farmers in various districts commit suicide due to crop failure," he added.

The YSRCP government will deposit Rs 12,500 in each farmers' account in the month of May in time for the sowing season, he said and added that cold storage units will be set up in each mandal. Similarly, Rs 3,000 crore market fund will be established for the farmers to help them get renumerative price for the crop.
