Phyton Dies Trying to Digest Moose

Gujarat: A phyton died while trying to digest a moose that it had swallowed, in Baliyavad village of Junagadh district on Wednesday.

The phython measuring a record 20 feet was discovered by villagers close to the Gir Wildlife Sanctuary. Villagers who spotted the motionless reptile in the middle of road alerted forest department officials. According to regional wildlife officials, phythons take anywhere between couple of days to a few weeks to digest large prey.

However, in this case the python must have sustained internal injuries as the prey was a large one, the officials said. It died before the officials could shift it for preliminary treatment.
