PD Act Filed Against Godman Shiva Baba for Fraud and Theft

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police have filed a Preventive Detention Act against godman Shiva Baba alias Shivananda, who cheated Lifestyle building owner to a tune of Rs. 1.32 crore.

Seven cases have been registered against him in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka states on charges of cheating people by claiming to be a Baba having magical powers to multiplying money.

Shivababa, who belongs to Karnataka, along with his two associates was arrested in June by Banjara Hills Police. He duped Lifestyle Owner Madhusudhan Reddy after drugging him and his family members during a puja for multiplying money.

Madhusudan came to know about Shiva Baba through a friend in Bengaluru, who told him that the Baba has ‘magical powers’. After he was invited, Shiva Baba conducted a ‘special Puja’ at his residence at Banjara Hills in June and doubled the cash amount 1 lakh to 2 lakh with the help of his two associates by hoodwinking the whole family.

Later he managed to make Madhusudan and his family believe that he has magical powers to double the money. Then Madhusudan brought out the entire cash he had at home worth Rs.1.32 crore for the ‘magic’. Shivananda performed a puja in front of his wife and son and drugged all the three members by giving them prasadam mixed with Datura and sesame seeds . Later, he fled with the whole money.
