Vijayawada: Former chief secretary of the state of Andhra Pradesh, IYR Krishna Rao has written a book "Evari Rajadhani Amaravati" (Whose Capital Is Amaravati) which will be launched by Jana Sena founder and president Pawan Kalyan on April 5, here.
Speaking to the media about the book release here today, former chief secretary said that nobody would ask for shifting the state capital from Amaravati. Moreover there was a need for a capital city and Amaravati would fill that void. "But what should a capital look like? Is it for administrative purpose or is it to meant to be showcased as a mega city in the country?"
IYR Krishna Rao informed that the book would deal with various aspects of developing a capital city and also looks at what the main agenda was, when Chandigarh, Bhuvaneshwar, Raipur and Ranchi were built. It would also look at the global experiences in building capital cities, he said while trying explain about the book and its contents. He emphasised on the fact that thorough study and research has been done before writing this book.
The outspoken retired IAS officer stated that he had clear and specific opinion with regard to to building a capital city. "My book deals with the recommendations made by Sivaramakrishnan committee, thousands of acres of land pooling done for Amaravati and the Swiss challenge. There is a scholarly discussion comparing Amaravati development with national and international capital cities' development," he said.
IYR Krishna Rao said that the book has been dedicated to Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao with his consent and it will be launched on April 5 at Makineni Basavapunnaiah Bhavan in Vijayawada by Pawan Kalyan.
