Parked car catches fire instantly, claims youngster

Hyderabad: Flames that burst out instantly from a parked car outside a residence, claimed the live of a youngster while injuring his brother, on Friday. This mishap occurred under the Meerpet police station limits of Hyderabad.

Suresh Reddy, a resident of Meerpet, had parked his car outside his house on Thursday night. On Friday, his two sons Srujan and Sreyas went to retrieve a pen drive from the parked car when the car reportedly burst into flames while the two were still inside it.

Srujan, who was in the front seat of the car, managed to jump out after sustaining some injuries. His brother Sreyas, who was in the back seat of the car, however couldn't get out in time. He was taken to a nearby private hospital where he died after sustaining eighty percent burns. Srujan is currently being treated in the hospital.

The reason why the car suddenly burst into flames, could be due to a short circuit, arising out of not turning off the lights while parking. The police have registered a case and are investigating the same.
