Orphanage Owner Held For Forcing Children Into Begging 

Hyderabad: M. James, owner of Bhramaputra Orphanage, has been arrested by Gachibowli police on Thursday for forcing children to beg in the garb of donations.

Gachibowli SI Ch Venkatesh said James (36) was running the orphanage with kids who were all below 14 years of age. He was sending four to five groups each day to collect money from employees of multinational companies on the pretext of donation.

“He gave them tin boxes with the name of the orphanage painted on them and made them beg for money from employees who come out for a break. On Monday, he collected Rs 5,000,” said Venkatesh.

During inquiry it was found that the registration of orphanage expired in 2012. While some children are orphans others were joined by parents after James assured them of providing education.

Police have registered a case against James under the Juvenile Justice Act and section 420, IPC.
