The GST Network will be rolled out from April 1, 2017 if the GST Bill is passed.

New Delhi: At a time, when all eyes on GST Bill as Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday tabled it in Rajya Sabha, GST portal is getting ready. The testing of the software on Goods and Services Tax Network (GST Network) is expected to be completed in October and will be ready for a beta launch in February 2017.

The GST Network is aimed at easing the tax process for citizens. The GST Network will be equipped with multiple options and processes to ensure that even a small retailer in country’s remote place can file his taxes online.

The exclusive software application Goods and Services Tax Network, a government-owned entity for providing the IT infrastructure for the long-pending GST Bill, is expected to be ready if the new tax regime is rolled out from April 1, 2017.

According to a top official at GST Network, a group of tax experts will test it before officers concerned and business experts will go through it. The domestic IT major Infosys has been entrusted the task of developing and running the GST Network. The Centre has so far spent Rs 1,380 crore on the project. The GST Network will be a one-stop solution for all tax-related activities.
