Nokia Unveils Sirocco at the Mobile World Congress 2018

Finnish consumer electronics giant Nokia launched its latest curved glass Android flagship smart phone, the Nokia 8 Sirocco, prior to the beginning of 2018 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The tech giant launched the new 8110 4G, an updated version of Nokia's classic 20-year-old phone, and also unveiled Nokia 7 plus, new Nokia 6 and Nokia 1.

Sirocco has a 5.5-inch 2K display, with a thickness of 7.5 mm and is IP67 rated waterproof till 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.

The smart phone will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. It runs on an 8GB RAM and 128GB storage with an expandable micro SD card slot. Nokia’s latest flagship phone features dual cameras — 12 megapixel and 13 megapixel (rear) and a 5 megapixel front camera.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco will run on Android Oreo One and will have a 3,260 mAh battery.

Nokia has set the price for this phone at Euros 749, which is roughly Rs. 60,000. The date of release for United States and rest of the world has not been announced, while the smart phone is expected to hit the European markets sometime in April.

Alongside Sirocco, the Nokia 7 Plus has the same camera system as the Nokia 8 Sirocco, but it has the exterior of a ceramic coating on an aluminum chassis. The Nokia 7 Plus features Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage.

The Nokia 7 Plus can be availed at approximately Rs. 32,000. The new Nokia 6 has Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 630 processor, with 3GB of 4GB of RAM, and 32GB or 64GB of storage. Nokia has moved the fingerprint reader to the back of the 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080) device, with an added 16-megapixel camera at the rear with ZEISS optics.

Nokia has also launched the 4G-enabled version of the original 8110, which was first launched in 1996 and was popular for sporting a "slider". On the new 8110, calls can be answered by sliding the slider down and cut the call by sliding it back upwards.
