No entry to Charminar till Dec 8

One of Hyderabad's landmark and historic monument, Charminar will remain shut for next few days.

Considering the city has been put on high alert to avert any untoward incidents owing to the 20th anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition, the Charminar area too has been cordoned off. Visitors/tourists are not being allowed by the police.
It is learnt that the ASI has been instructed by the Hyderabad police to keep the place free of visitors for at least the next two days. It is being said that the monument will be thrown open to the public on December 8.

It may be recalled that Charminar has been at the centre of controversy after the authorities of the temple adjoining the monument tried to do some renovation, leading to communal clashes. The area has since remained sensitive and has been put under police surveillance round-the-clock.
In the backdrop of the Babri demolition anniversary and MIM chief Owaisi's call for a bandh, many traders shut shop as there was an air of tension in the area. It may be recalled that the area for the last month or so, has already been tense affecting the business in the busy market area.
Besides the tourists who are disappointed about not being allowed to take a tour of the architectural marvel, the shopkeepers too have to bear the brunt of the prohibitory orders that have been in place for quite some time now.
Businessmen around the Charminar area as well as shoppers are hoping that normalcy will be restored after two days and they can go about their life like before.
