Thalapathy Vijay the Tamil Super superstar has filed a lawsuit against 11 people, including his parents, S. Chandrashekhar and Shobha Sekhar, for using his name for political purposes.

The case is expected to be heard by the court on September 27. The Vijay Makkal Mandram stated that they would run in the rural local body elections in nine Tamil Nadu districts on October 6 and 9, and Vijay claimed that it was his parents who allowed the registered society of Vijay followers to run as independent candidates. In the civil suit, he also requested a halt to any meetings or activities conducted in his name against 11 respondents, including his parents.

Vijay had removed himself from the activities of his father's registered organisation, the Vijay Makkal Mandram. In a petition filed in January this year with the Madras High Court, his counsel claimed that Vijay's father had founded a political party called "All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Mandram" without his permission.
