Hyderabad: Telangana police has filed a case against the former minister and BRS leader KT Rama Rao (KTR) for his alleged ‘objectionable’ remarks against the chief minister Revanth Reddy.

Criticising the chief minister, KTR had accused Revanth Redy of collecting Rs 2,500 crore from the builders and businessmen in Hyderabad through extortion and sending it to the party’s high command in Delhi.

Addressing a BRS workers’ meeting on Wednesday, he had also alleged that Reddy will cross over to the BJP once the results of 2024 Lok Sabha elections are announced. He targeted the chief minister Revanth Reddy’s recent praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Following a complaint from the Congress leader Battina  Srinivas Rao, police registered a zero FIR against the former minister. The case was registered at Hanamkonda police station and subsequently it was transferred to Banjara Hills police station. KTR has been charged under sections 504 and 505 (2) of the Indian Penal Code.
