Who Is New Telangana High Court CJ Justice Satish Chandra Sharma

Justice Satish Chandra Sharma took over the charge as the new Chief Justice of Telangana High Court. The President of India on Saturday appointed Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, Judge of the Karnataka High Court, as the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court.

Who Is Justice Satish Chandra Sharma, The New Telangana High Court CJ

Justice Sharma was born on November 30, 1961, in Bhopal, the capital city of Madhya Pradesh. He is the son of Dr. BN Sharma, a well-known professor at the University of Jabalpur (now Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya), and also worked as the Vice-Chancellor of Barkatullah University, Bhopal. His mother Shanti Sharma was the principal of Maharani Lakshmibai Higher Secondary School. She also worked as the District Education Officer, Jabalpur. 

Justice Satish Chandra Sharma completed his Class 10 from Christ Church Boys Higher Secondary School and Class 12 from Central School, Jabalpur. In 1981, he completed his Bachelor of Science degree from Dr. Harisingh Gour University (DHGU). He got his Bachelor of Laws from DHGU in 1984.

Justice Satish Chandra Sharma enrolled as an advocate on September 1, 1984. He practiced in Constitutional, Service, Civil and Criminal matters before the High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur. On 28th May 1993, he was appointed Additional Central Government Counsel and was appointed senior panel counsel by the Government of India on June 28, 2004. 

Satish Chandra Sharma became one of the youngest senior advocates of the High Court of Mumbai after he got his appointment as the Senior Advocate by the Madhya Pradesh High Court in 2003.  He was appointed as a Permanent Judge on 15th January 2010. He is also on the Advisory Board of National Law Institute University Bhopal and has published numerous research articles and papers.

Justice Satish Chandra Sharma will be the fourth Chief Justice of Telangana High Court. Justice Hima Kohli who served as the Telangana CJ was appointed Supreme Court Judge on August 31 then Justice MSR Ramachandra Rao took over the post on a temporary basis. He was now transferred to Punjab-Haryana High Court and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma who was serving as the interim Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court has been appointed as the new Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.
