Thunderstorms In Telangana For Next Two Days: IMD

HYDERABAD: Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hailstorm and gusty winds reaching up to around 30 to 40 kmph were very likely to occur on Saturday at isolated places in several districts of Telangana, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) update on Friday.

Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Medak, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Hyderabad, Mahbubnagar, Jogulamba Gadwal and Suryapet districts.

In the last 24 hours, heatwave conditions prevailed at isolated pockets in Adilabad, Medchal Malkajgiri, Peddapalli, Medak and Nizamabad, while the highest maximum temperature of 45.3 degree Celsius was recorded at Adilabad.

In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature in the 24 hours up to 8.30 am on Friday was 42.9 degree Celsius.

The IMD bulletin on Friday said the Southwest Monsoon had further advanced into some parts of the southwest and the southeast Arabian Sea and some more parts of the Maldives-­Comorin area.

“Conditions were becoming favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of south Arabian Sea, Maldives ­Comorin area, southwest and the southeast Bay of Bengal during next 48 hours,” it said, adding that the conditions are likely to become favourable for the onset of the Southwest Monsoon over Kerala around June 1.
