12 Jan, 2022 14:09 IST

For the next four days, Telangana will experience moderate to heavy rainfall. The Indian Metrological Department Hyderabad (IMD-H) has issued a yellow alert to six Telangana districts. Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, and Suryapet are the six districts.

According to the IMD-H forecast, the state will witness light to moderate rainfall on Monday and Tuesday, with isolated thunder showers.

Heavy rains with thunderstorms and lightning are expected in the aforementioned regions on Wednesday and Thursday, January 12 and 13. Color codes are used in weather warnings to highlight the severity of the forecast weather phenomena, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

A yellow alert indicates that the forecast should be updated. It is used to signal the possible severity of an approaching weather event.

Meanwhile, several areas of the state, including Yadadri Bhongir, Rajanna Sircilla, and Jagtial, have received light rains in the last 24 hours. Rangareddy had the lowest temperature in Telangana at 15.3 degrees Celsius, followed by Kumram Bheem (Asifabad) at 15.6 degrees Celsius, Medchal Malkajgiri at 15.7 degrees Celsius, Mahabubnagarat at 16.3 degrees Celsius and Nagarkurnool at 16.4 degrees Celsius.

Hyderabad is expected to witness light rains over the next three days, with one or two spells of thundershowers on Thursday, January 13. The Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) forecasts up to 2.5 mm of rain in most sections of the city on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, January 10, 11, and 12, respectively.
