Bathukamma is one of the most important festivals for the people of Telangana. They celebrate it with much joy and happiness. Bathukamma means ‘Mother Goddess come Alive’ and this festival is celebrated towards the end of the monsoon. The festival begins on the day of Mahalaya Amavasya. The last day of Bathukamma is Pedha or Sadhula Bathukamma. On the final day, women make Bathukamma and immerse them in water. Women keep Bathukammas in one place and sing songs.
