Telangana May Remove Complete Lockdown, Retain Only Night Curfew

The positive rate of COVID cases in Telangana has decreased significantly and so have deaths. In this context, the state government is planning to lift the lockdown completely from June 19. At present, the ongoing lockdown is from 6 pm to 5 am and the relaxation period starts from 6 am to 5 pm. The government has given a one-hour grace period from 5 pm to 6 pm. 

However, the government has hinted that theaters will be reopened from July first with 50 per cent occupancy. People are expecting the government to completely unlock the state, and there is a possibility of imposing a nighttime curfew from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.The restrictions on reopening schools and colleges, as well as political rallies and meetings, will remain the same. K Chandrashekar Rao, the chief minister of Telangana, may call a cabinet meeting on June 18 or 19 to discuss the ongoing lockdown.

On Wednesday, Telangana reported 1489 new Covid infections and 11 deaths, bringing the total number of deaths to 3521 and the number of positive cases to 6,07,925. As of Wednesday evening, there were 19,975 active cases in Telangana.
