Former IPS officer RS Praveen Kumar who took voluntary retirement is all ready to take a political plunge. He is going to join the Bahujan Samaj Party on August 8th in the presence of BSP national coordinator Ramji Gautham, at a grand public meeting in Nalgonda's NG College grounds. It is said that along with Praveen Kumar, more than one lakh supporters and like-minded people are going to join the party in the state. BSP district in charge Puri Saidulu said that no vehicles would be provided for the people to come to the public meeting. Praveen Kumar fans and SWAERO activists would come to the meeting voluntarily. He said that the meeting will be held following strict COVID-19 protocol.

Ramji Gautham also announced that Praveen is going to join the party. He tweeted, "I welcome Dr. RS Praveen Kumar IPS Addl.DGP (Rtd) is joining the BSP party on August 8, 2021, with the blessings of the BSP National President Mayawati ji. Jai Bhim!"

Praveen Kumar, a veterinary doctor by profession, is a 1995 Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. He worked in various positions and retired with the rank of Additional Director General of Police (Addl DGP) even as six years of his service was left. He served as the secretary for Telangana Social and Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions.

On July 19 he tweeted, "After 26 years of serving the motherland as an IPS officer, I have applied today for voluntary retirement to pursue my passion for social justice and equality with more vigour at my own pace. I thank you all for standing by me throughout my career."
