HYDERABAD: The husband of Shaikpet Mandal Revenue Officer Ch Sujatha, who was recently arrested by ACB officials in a Banjara Hills land bribery case, committed suicide. Sujatha's husband Ajay Kumar ended his life by jumping off a residential building near Chikkadpally of Hyderabad on Wednesday.

According to reports, Kumar visited his sister's house In Gandhinagar On Wednesday. After that, he ended his life by jumping from the top of the five-story building.

The Chikkadpally police registered a case of suicide and shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital for autopsy. As per the reports, Ajay Kumar was depressed over the arrest of his wife in connection with the land bribery case. He is suspected to have taken the extreme step in a state of despair.

Banjara Hills Land Bribery Case:

The ACB officials, who found Rs 30 lakh, gold and other valuables from the Tahasildar's house, have arrested his wife Sujatha a few days back and also reportedly questioned Kumar in connection with the case.

The ACB sleuths had earlier trapped a revenue inspector while taking bribe of Rs 15 lakh from Syed Abdul Khalid who has 4,865 square yards of land in Banjara Hills. Following this, Banjara Hills sub-inspector Ravi Nayak was also arrested for being part of the crime. He also demanded Rs three lakh from Khalid and accepted Rs 1.5 lakh as bribe in connection with the case. The ACB investigation into the case is going on.
