The Chandrayangutta police registered a case against Syed Saleem, a social activist from the old city, for defamatory remarks against a female YouTuber.

Syed Saleem, a Hafeez Baba Nagar resident and president of an NGO, is accused of making inappropriate comments about a woman who works as a YouTube reporter and runs the Khidmat e- Khalq Charitable Trust on Facebook.

"On his Facebook page, Saleem did a live broadcast in which he made defamatory and derogatory remarks about the woman. As a result, the woman allegedly attempted suicide by taking sleeping pills," said Rudra Bhaskar, SHO Chandrayangutta.

Saleem was charged under Sections 354, 294 of the IPC, as well as various sections of the IT Act after the police, received a complaint. A police team went to Saleem's house at Dabeerpura to arrest him on Sunday, but few people gathered while the police was arresting him. The mob shouted abusive words and police dispersed them. When Saleem was brought to the Chndrayangutta police station, a similar scene occurred.
