Kavita Helps Out Bereaved Dubai Migrant

MANCHERIAL: Former Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha helped a Dubai returnee to reach his hometown in Luxettipet mandal centre to take part in the rituals of his wife and daughter who died in an accident.

When member of Emirates Telangana Cultural Association (ETCA), Kiran Kumar Peecharla, brought to the fore the plight of the Gulf migrant in a tweet, she responded promptly.

Potarajula Srinivas is a native of  Luxettipet mandal centre and worked in Dubai.  An autorickshaw driver by profession, he migrated to the gulf country in 2019, a leading daily reported.

He managed to meet his family and took part in some rituals of his wife Sujatha (40) and 18-year-old daughter Kavya. The two died in an accident at Mandamarri on May 15. Stranded in Dubai, he had to view the final rites of them on a video call.

When Srinivas landed in India, police escorted Srinivas as he met his younger daughter and other family members.

Left devastated, he expressed his agony saying the accident ruined his family for whose better future he had moved to Dubai. He, had maintained physical distance from his younger daughter during his visit. He also expressed gratitute to Kavita and members of the ETCA for facilitating his journey to India.

He later returned to quarantine centre as India's lockdown norms require. He was also provided with a special vehicle by the MP.

Kavita spoke to DGP Mahender Reddy and Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and and then he was permitted to fly back to India, the daily reported.
