Hyderabad Police Brings New Regulation to Ease Traffic Congestion

Hyderabad: In an effort to streamline the traffic and mitigate the traffic congestion on the city roads, Hyderabad City Police has come up with a new traffic management policy which is being implemented from today,  February 21. However, public transport buses and state-operated vehicles have been exempted from these restrictions to avoid inconvenience for the commuters. 

According to the City Police Commissioner Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy the new traffic management policy will place certain restrictions on inter-district vehicles, lorries with national permit, medium goods vehicles and private buses. As part of this, all these vehicles will not be allowed to ply on all 94 identified routes across the city. 

  1. Inter-State and Inter-District commercial vehicles with more than 10 tonnes of weight will not be allowed to enter the city 
  2. Local lorries and vehicles carrying construction material will be allowed to use the city roads only between 11 pm and 7 am 
  3. Good vehicles such as DCMs carrying weight between 3.5 and 12 tonnes will be allowed to operate only from 12 noon to 4 pm. and between 9 pm and 8 am 
  4. Private buses will be allowed to ply only between 10 pm and 8 am on arterial roads.
