HYDERABAD: YSRCP MP K Raghu Rama Krishna Raju's security personnel (CRPF constables) assaulted and beat up an Intelligence Constable named Sk Farooq Basha of the Andhra Pradesh police, who was on duty in Hyderabad during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit on July 4 in the city. As per reports the constable was attacked and forcibly taken to the MP's house on Monday morning when he was posted near the Indian School of Business (ISB) during the PM’s visit.
As per reports in Sakshi, with Prime Minister Modi's visit to AP and Telangana, the police of both states have made security arrangements as per the guidelines of the Special Protection Group (SPG) as per protocol during the PM’s visit. It was also reported based on Intelligence inputs, that some groups from Andhra Pradesh had reached Hyderabad to protest against the Prime Minister. In Vijayawada and Bhimavaram also, it was found that some people were ready to stage agitations. Based on these inputs, the AP Intelligence Department appointed some constables as spotters in Hyderabad to keep track of the movements of these representatives of such groups, agitators, and suspects who had come from AP to Hyderabad. As per Union Home Ministry guidelines, this is the policy followed by all state police departments.
As part of these guidelines, AP Police officials appointed constable Farooq Basha from Anantapur as a spotter at the ISB gate in Hyderabad on Monday morning. The ISB gate is about a kilometer away from the MP's residence at Boulder Hills in Gachibowli.
As Farooq was standing on duty, some members of the MP’s family along with CRPF constables came in a car (a white Ford Eco Sports bearing number 7777) and attacked Farooq. They roughed him up on the sidewalk and questioned him. Though he tried showing his identity card and stated that he was an intelligence constable, they paid no heed and confiscated his ID card. Not stopping there, they held his hands behind and assaulted him on the road, and dragged him to the MP's house even as people were watching on the main road. Some of the pedestrians also took videos of the constable being assaulted and dragged on their cell phones. They took him to the MP's house and beat him up along with the Raghu Rama Krishna Raju's family members and the ordeal lasted for more than two hours. They later took him to the Gachibowli police station and handed him over to the police and lodged a complaint stating that the person was caught moving around suspiciously.
Farooq Basha filed a complaint against Raghu Rama Krishna Raju's family members and some CRPF constables who attacked him and said that they had snatched his purse, mobile and ID card at the Gachibowli police station. Farooq Basha was shifted to a hospital and his condition is said to be stable. The MP was said to be present in the house when the constable was assaulted.
Update: The CRPF officials have suspended ASI/GD K. Ganga Ram and CT/GD (jawan) Nanaware Sandip Sadhu of Battalion-221.
