High Court Pulls Up Telangana For Banning Ambulance Entry From Other States

11 May, 2021 14:56 IST|Sakshi Post

Telangana High Court expressed its anguish on state authorities stopping ambulances carrying coronavirus patients from other states to Hyderabad. The HC took a serious note on this matter and said that they have told to conduct the tests for the people who are coming from other states but have no rights on stopping them from entering the state.

The High Court also questioned that on what basis the government is saying that the number of coronavirus cases are decreasing in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy.

The High Court said that Telangana is still not showing the correct statistics related to coronavirus.

A division bench of Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy said that the state authorities are not taking any action against the mass gatherings in Old City.

The bench also questioned that how can CS announce that there is no need for lockdown in a press meet when High Court stressed the need for lockdown.

The High Court wanted the state to take strict measures including seizing of vehicles if drivers did not wear masks and ramping up testing. HC expressed dissatisfaction over poor testing numbers despite its earlier instructions to increase the rate.

The Telangana government on Tuesday announced a 10 day lockdown would be imposed in the state starting today. All the activities will be allowed from 6am to 10am.
