HYDERABAD: While cases continue to surge across Telangana with most of them from Greater Hyderabad limits, four police personnel reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 and are undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital.
However, an official confirmation from the Hyderabad police is still awaited.
According to sources, a sub inspector working at the Chilkalguda police station apart from three other constables from different police stations are believed to have tested positive for coronavirus.
Sources also said that all the family members of sub-inspector have been shifted to a hospital for quarantine after they reportedly showed symptoms of COVID-19. Few other cops from Chikalguda and other police stations have been sent COVID-19 test. The results are awaited.
Meanwhile, Dayakar Reddy, a constable working at the Kulsumpura police station died on Wednesday after contracting coronavirus. Following this, many policemen from the same police station were sent for the tests and all were negative.
Telangana on Friday reported, three more virus related fatalities taking the death to 48. The state recorded one of the highest single-day spike with 62 fresh cases, taking the state's tally to 1,761.
