Khammam: Former Khammam MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy formally joined the Congress on Sunday. During the Telangana Jana Garjana sabha, Rahul Gandhi welcomed Srinivas Reddy into the party fold. Pidamarthi Ravi, Arikela Narsa Reddy, Payam Vebkateswarlu, Kanakaiah, DV Rao and Papi Reddy were among those who also joined the Congress party.

After joining the Congress, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy addressed the Telangana Jana Garjana sabha and said the aspirations of the people of Telangana was the focus of the party while it went ahead with the bifurcation of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. He claimed chief minister KCR came to power by making hollow electoral promises to the people. Srinivas Reddy exuded confidence that Congress would come to power in Telangana.

The former Khammam MP further said after coming to power in the state, the Congress will implement the assurances made in the Rythu Declaration. He urged the people to unseat the BRS party from power in the upcoming elections.

Recently, several opposition leaders in Telangana joined the Congress ahead of the Assembly elections, including former minister Jupally Krishna Rao and former MP Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy. Besides Rao and Reddy, Gurnath Reddy, (six times MLA), Koram Kanakaiah, Ex MLA & serving Zila Parishad chairman, Payam Venkateshwarlu, Ex MLA, Muvament Vijaya Baby, DCCB ex chairman, Pidamarthi Ravi, ex-Chairman, SC Corporation, Thulluri Bramhaiah, present DCCB chairman, Borra Rajshekhar, present Markfed state vice chairperson and S. Jaipal, present municipal chairperson, Warya and Mandal Praja Parishad chairmen and many senior BRS leaders joined the Congress here.
