Cyclone Yaas Intensifies Near Odisha, Rains to Lash AP and Telangana

IMD says Yaas cyclone approaching, and rain is expected in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Telangana: Yaas Cyclone is on its way to the east coast. At the moment, it's only an air bubble. The storm is expected to worsen by tomorrow morning, according to the MET department. As a result of the cyclone's effects, the Telugu states will experience rain for the next two days.

According to the 13.30-hour bulletin from IMD, It is located 590 kilometres east-southeast of Paradip, Odisha. It is 690 kilometres south-southeast of Balasore and 670 kilometres south-southeast of Digha in West Bengal.

On Sunday night, the storm was predicted to become a major blizzard, followed by a cyclone on Monday morning. According to the Meteorological Department, it is expected to intensify into a cyclone in the next 24 hours.

Typhoon Yaas is expected to make landfall between Paradip, Odisha, and the Sagar Islands, West Bengal, on May 26th. With winds of up to 150 mph and heavy rainfall, the cyclone is also expected to make landfall along the coast.

Odisha is expected to be hit severely, according to the Meteorological Department. The districts of Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, and Balasore will be highly affected. The Centre has instructed the authorities to make necessary preparations for the cyclone.

Heavy rains are expected in Andhra Pradesh tomorrow, according to the Visakhapatnam Meteorological Department.

Telangana is expected to receive moderate rain due to the winds from the south direction to the lower troposphere, according to the Hyderabad Meteorological Department. Today and tomorrow, heavy rains, thunderstorms, and lightning are expected to lash the state. Several districts in Telangana are expected to receive rain today, and the temperature in some areas has reportedly dropped as a result of the cyclonic movement.
