Cyclone Gulab: Telangana Govt Declares Holiday For Educational Institutions, Government Offices

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday declared a holiday for all the government offices and educational institutions in the state on Tuesday following the forecast of heavy rains in the next 48 hours. On Monday, a review meeting on how the situation is across the state was conducted. 

Chief Minister KCR took the stock of the situation from Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and stated that the departments like Revenue, Police, Fire Services, Municipal, Panchayati Raj, Irrigation, Roads, and Buildings should be on emergency duty to provide necessary help to the needy.

Several districts of Telangana witnessed heavy rains on Monday and even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned that the heavy rains are expected at isolated places in different districts of the state over the next 48 hours.

The IMD, which issued a red alert for 14 districts in the state, warned that heavy to very heavy rain with extremely heavy rain is very likely to occur at isolated places in Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Warangal (Rural), Warangal (Urban), Janagaon, Siddipet, Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapally, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Kamareddy districts today.
