Crowded Buses Lead TSRTC to Take THIS Major Decision

31 Dec, 2023 10:34 IST|Sakshi Post

Hyderabad: In a significant development, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has taken a major decision to cancel Family-24 (F-24) and T-6 tickets in the Greater Hyderabad region. According to an announcement made by the TSRTC management, these tickets will be withdrawn effective from January 01, 2024, Monday.

RTC had introduced F-24 tickets for the convenience of family members and friends. A family of four persons could travel for 24 hours by paying Rs. 300 on weekends and holidays. While the T-6 tickets offered 6 hours travel between 10 am and 4 pm for women and senior citizens at Rs 50. Under the former BRS government, the prices of these special tickets were slashed recently by the RTC management.

In view of the increased passenger traffic following the launch of the Mahalakshmi scheme, the TSRTC has decided to withdraw these special tickets. Taking to X, TSRTC Managing Director, VC Sajjanar said, “Family-24 and T-6 tickets will be completely withdrawn beginning January 01, 2024.”

Citing the reason behind this significant decision, Sajjanar said to issue these Family-24 and T-6 tickets, the conductors have to verify identity cards and note down passenger age etc. After the Mahalakshmi scheme's launch, the RTC buses are running at above capacity and this verification process is causing service delays, he added.
