KCR slams CM Revanth Reddy for handing over irrigation projects to KRMB

Congress government has done grave injustice to Telangana people

BRS to hold protest meeting in Nalgonda on February 13

Hyderabad: Upping its ante against the ruling Congress government, BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) targeted the chief minister Revanth Reddy for agreeing to hand over the projects to the Union government-led Krishna River Management Board (KRMB).

During a crucial meeting of the KRMB in Hyderabad on Thursday, the Engineer in Chief of both the Telugu states agreed to hand over the projects to the centre’s panel. It may be recalled here that there are disputes between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on the common projects over the Krishna and Godavari rivers and the KRMB is holding consultation with the stakeholders from both sides to resolve the water-related issues.

After a hiatus of two month, KCR addressed the BRS party cadre at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, the former chief minister exhorted the cadre to raise a banner of revolt against the government for handing over the Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar projects to the central board.

“The Congress government’s decision to hand over irrigation projects to KRMB would result in grave injustice to the people of Telangana. The state government will lose its control over the projects and even for petty repair works, we will have to seek permission from the board. Revanth Reddy has zero knowledge about the projects and he cannot even imagine the loss to the state with his decisions,” KCR told party workers.

To intensify its campaign against the government over handling of irrigation projects in the state, KCR has given a call for holding a massive protest meeting in Nalgonda on February 13. He asked the party leadership to mobilise the party supporters from Nalgonda, Mahabub Nagar and Khammam districts. We need to explain to the people about the fallout of the Revanth Reddy-led government’s decision on irrigation projects, he added.

“BRS ruled Telangana for 10 years and despite mounting pressure from the Centre, the government did not give up its hold on the projects. Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat allegedly threatened the then government to hand over the projects,” KCR added.
