Bhupalpally KTPP Fire: Extreme Heat Behind Kakatiya Thermal Power Project Blaze?

A fire broke out at Kakatiya Thermal Power Station (KTPS) at Chelpur of Jaishankar Bhupalpally district on Thursday. This is the second such incident that happened within 10 days. This time, no casualties were reported. The fire broke out in the ash handling pipe motor in the Genco-2 block inside the power station, the officials said. As per the information coming in, the mishap may have occurred due to the extreme heat. 

In the earlier mishap that occurred on April 26, seven personnel, including artisans and contract workers, were injured in the accident. One of them, K. Veeraswamy, an artisan, who was among the three undergoing treatment at a corporate hospital in Hyderabad succumbed to injuries. 

Telangana State Power Generation Corporation (TS-Genco) took a serious note of this and suspended two engineers in connection with the incident.
