Time magazine has officially revealed its annual list of the 100 Most Influential People for the year 2021, continuing its tradition of honoring the 100 most influential celebrities, sportsmen, business tycoons, politicians, and other well-known individuals in its global list.
Coming to sportspersons, TIME's 100 lists featured US women's gymnasts Simone Biles and Suni Lee, women's track and field icon Allyson Felix, Angels two-way sensation Shohei Ohtani, and Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.
A seven-time Olympic medalist, Biles chose to withdraw from many key events at the greatest stage of them all, including the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Numerous athletes prioritized their mental health this year.
The famed magazine took to Twitter to show its cover, which featured Biles, who was praised by tennis legend Serena Williams. Serena said, "@Simone Biles is a shining example of what success looks like when you let go of what the world thinks and gather your strength from inside... from your soul."

Despite withdrawing from many events in Japan, Biles had an exciting Olympics campaign, earning silver and bronze medals with her team that represented the United States (US) in Tokyo. In the absence of the seven-time Olympic medalist, Biles' teammate Lee won the coveted gold medal. Lee is also on Time's list of the 100 most important people in the world in 2021.
Brady, one of the most decorated players in American football history, was also included in Time's list of the 100 Most Influential People.
Tennis prodigy Naomi Osaka also kept her spot on the list for 2021. The four-time Grand Slam winner has also decided to take a break from tennis in order to focus on her mental health.
Aside from Biles, Lee, Brady, and Osaka, Shohei Ohtani of Los Angeles and track athlete Allyson Felix were included in the annual list of the 100 Most Influential People of 2021.
