Here's Why IPL Franchises Are Not Showing Interest in Bidding For England Players

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is expected to exclude England players who will play in the three-test series against New Zealand at home from the later stages of the IPL 2022. 

Twenty-two English players have signed up for the IPL auction, including some who have just been named to England's Test squad. Jonny Bairstow, Mark Wood, Dawid Malan, Ollie Pope, Craig Overton, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler, and Dan Lawrence were all members of the Ashes team and are now available for auction.

The ECB's chief executive, Tom Harrison, stated that English cricket required a red-ball "reset" in order to revive the fortunes of the struggling Test squad. In order to keep the players ready for the red-ball challenge, the ECB is ready to cut short the players’ journey in the Indian Premier League.

Cricbuzz reported that ECB has informed Indian Premier League teams that they should be prepared to lose England players before the end of the IPL 2022 in order to prepare for the New Zealand Test series at home. This may reduce England's chances of getting selected in the forthcoming IPL 2022 super auction.

The first Test against New Zealand begins on June 2 at Lord's, and while the dates for the IPL 2022 have yet to be formally announced, the competition is expected to run from March 27 through late May, only a few days before the first Test begins. 

However, there is no official confirmation concerning the availability of England's players in the IPL 2022.
