After the loss at the first match against France, Germany is back. The team came riding a storm. It looked as though they were fully prepared for redemption and that is exactly what the team did. Germany is the three-time European champions and they proved that they are going to be a force you should reckon. But credit for yesterday’s victory doesn’t go entirely to Germany.

In Group F, we have Portugal, France, Hungary and Germany. Yesterday’s match was between two of the high rated teams, i.e. Portugal and Germany. The latter won the match with a 4-2 victory. Fans started seeing this team as the contender for the tournament winner. The credit for Germany’s victory doesn’t go entirely to the team but also the defending champions.

In the 15th minute, Portugal had a one-goal lead thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo but soon they lost the lead and that due to their own mistake. Rúben Dias and Raphaël Guerreiro in a way helped Germany by scoring into their own net. This gave the lead to Germany by halftime and they didn’t even have to do anything for it. With this Portugal became the first-ever team to score two own goals in one game at the continental event.

The team already had a lead and then Kai Havertz and Robin Gosens scored two more goals in the second half to seal the deal for Germany. Even though Diogo Jota scored a goal for Portugal, it was too late to recover from the loss.

With this, the point table sees a turn. Now the Group F ranking has France on the top spot with one win and one draw. The second position is Germany with one win and one loss and Portugal at third with Hungary in fourth. France has 4 points whereas both Germany and Portugal have 3 points. Hungary has one point.
