Hotstar will stop operations in the United States. It is well known that the streaming service became a part of Disney+ a few years ago. Hotstar content will now be available on sites such as Hulu and ESPN+ in the United States. Disney, which has over 174 million members across four of its streaming services (Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, and Hotstar), is now aiming to integrate all of its content into a single bundle.
Hotstar's sports content will now be transferred to ESPN+, while all movies and TV shows will be transferred to Hulu.
This means that Hotstar's exclusive sporting events, such as the IPL, will now be available on ESPN+ in the United States, and Hotstar originals, such as Aarya and Special Ops, will be available on Hulu. Currently, an annual membership to Hotstar costs $49.99 (about Rs. 3,650). Disney's new bundle package will cost $13.99 (about Rs. 1,020) each month and at least $167.88 (approximately Rs. 12,260) every year.
Hotstar subscribers will also receive a redemption coupon to take advantage of a free subscription upgrade to the Disney package.
