Gaurav Gupta, the co-founder of Zomato, has opted to leave the food giant platform, according to a blog post published by the firm on Tuesday. This news was confirmed by the post. Gupta joined Zomato back in 2015 and was later promoted to Chief Operating Officer (COO) in 2018, then becoming the co-founder in 2019.

In a mail shared with the company, Gupta wrote, “I am taking a new turn in my life and will be starting a new chapter, taking a lot from this defining chapter of my life – the last 6 years at Zomato. We have a great team now to take Zomato forward and it's time for me to take an alternate path in my journey.” He further wrote about his feelings as he leaves the company and says that, “I am very emotional as I write this and don't think any words can do justice to how I am feeling right now.”

Zomato Founder Deepinder Goyal took to Twitter and said, “Thank you, Gaurav Gupta - the last 6 years have been amazing and we have come very far. There's so much of our journey still ahead of us, and I am thankful that we have a great team and leadership to carry us forward.”

“I wish you all the best for your future, and look forward to continue being the friends that we are for the rest of our lives. I am pumped and excited to see what you will cook up next. Make Zomato proud,” added Goyal.

Gupta has hand in making some of the biggest decisions including, Dining out, advertising, table reservations, zomato pro, and many other initiatives and business decisions. Before joining Zomato, he worked with A.T. Kearney Limited for more than 10 years.
