Bengaluru: People visiting the city on weekends, according to Bengaluru City Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) BR Ravikanthe Gowda, are "in a hurry to return to their places on Sundays, leading to a higher number of road accidents." According to statistics, 109 of the 657 deaths caused by vehicle accidents in Bengaluru last year occurred on Sundays.

According to statistics published by the municipal traffic police, Bengaluru had a greater number of accidents and deaths on Sundays in 2020. Last year, 657 people died in traffic accidents in the city, with 109 fatalities reported on Sundays. According to the data, Bengaluru had 870 fatal incidents in 2018 and 832 in 2019.
