Prime Minister Narendra Modi is planning to chair a meeting with senior government officials on Sunday to review the preparations being taken for the upcoming Cyclone Yaas, which is said to make its landfall between the States of Odisha and West Bengal.
As per sources, Home Minister Amit Shah and other ministers will also join the meeting.
The India Meteorological Department on Saturday said Cyclone Yaas is likely to intensify into a "very severe cyclonic storm" and cross the Odisha and West Bengal coasts on May 26.
In the wake of the cyclone, the Northern Railway has temporarily cancelled over a dozen trains between the national capital and Bhubaneswar and Puri in Odisha. The Army has also deployed task forces for rescue and relief operations in the two states.
The Indian Coast Guard also took preventive measures to face any challenges from the developing cyclonic storm Yaas on the east coast.
Cyclone Tauktae, which made landfall in Gujarat earlier this week affected several states on the west coast including Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa. PM Modi after reviewing the cyclone-affected areas in Gujarat announced an assistance of Rs 1,000 crore for relief work.
