NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 125th annual session of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) on Tuesday. Modi said that India will overcome the coronavirus pandemic soon and will definitely get its economic growth back.

Speaking at CII's annual session, he commented that, "I would rather go beyond getting growth back. We will definitely get our growth back. On one hand, we have to save the lives of our people and on the other hand we have to stabilise the economy." The government is already paving its steps towards strengthening the economy with eased guidelines under the Unlock Phase-1 strategy.

Modi said that, “Some people must be thinking about how can I be so confident during this hour of crisis. I have immense trust in India’s capabilities and crisis management. I trust India’s talent and technology. I trust the innovation and intellect of India. I trust the farmers of India, MSME’s, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders.”

Modi stressed on the point that Indian corporates should implement ways to promote local growth and indigenous manufacturing units as India aims to become self-reliant.

Modi asserted that, "Now we have to invest in the creation of a robust local supply chain that strengthens India's stake in the global supply chain. In this campaign, a big institution like the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will also have to come forward in a new role post-Corona. Intent, Inclusion, Investment, Infrastructure and Innovation, these five things are important to speed up India's development and make it 'Atma Nirbhar'. You will get a glimpse of these in the bold decisions recently taken by us."

The government of India will conduct meetings with the corporate leaders for the generation of employment under schemes like 'Make In India'. He added that the entire world is looking for a trustworthy partner and India has the capability to be that partner. Modi said that,"For us, reforms mean having the courage to take bold decisions and ensure that it is implemented in a time-bound manner."
