Kushinagar: 11 Women Drown in Well During Haldi Ceremony in UP

In a tragic accident in  Kushinagar of Uttar Pradesh, eleven women drowned in the well and died during a Haldi ceremony on Wednesday. The incident took place when the iron mesh around the well fell off while women and girls were standing around it. The incident happened under Nebua Naurangiya police limits.

Senior officials were on the ground monitoring the situation till after midnight while the rescue operations continued. Villagers and police rescued about 15 women, but 11 more were unable to be saved in time. Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has expressed his grief over the mishap. He has ordered officials to ramp up rescue and relief efforts, as well as provide treatment to the injured.
