Independence Day 2021: Girls Are Allowed In All Sainik Schools In India, PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on the occasion of Independence Day today. This year, PM Modi has been joined by the Olympians who won medals in the Tokyo Olympics which had been conducted recently.

Ahead of the address, PM Modi visited Rajghat and also received the guard of honour at Red Fort. Nearly 5,000 security personnel have been deployed at the Red Fort today. 

PM Modi in his speech said that "Many girls have been writing to me and now the government has decided that all sainik schools will now be opened for our girls."

Now Girls can also take the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) for admission to a Sainik School in class 6. Now AISSEE entrance exam is going to be conducted for both girls and boys. Earlier only boy cadets have been allowed admission to Sainik schools. 

The main aim of Sainik schools is to train kids for admission into the Indian armed services from an early age. They are managed by the Sainik Schools Society, which is under the Ministry of Defence's administrative jurisdiction. The establishment of these schools is based on particular requests from state governments.
