Google: Google employees will be able to work on campus until at least January 10, according to Alphabet Inc. Chief Executive Officer Sundar Pichai, who issued a message to employees on Tuesday. Before employees are required to return to work, the firm will give them 30 days' notice, although Pichai did not identify a date when they must return, whether they are based in the United States or overseas.

"Beyond January 10, we will enable countries and locations to make determinations on when to end voluntary work-from-home based on local conditions, which vary greatly across our offices," Pichai wrote.

Google has already postponed a mandatory office return date to Oct. 18. The internet behemoth has said that it will require workers to work in a "hybrid" format, with around 60% returning to their pre-pandemic headquarters. When Google's headquarters reopened in August, 85 per cent of employee requests to work remotely or move were accepted.

Google's decision to postpone its return-to-office plans is comparable to what other large technology businesses have done. Facebook Inc. has informed staff in the United States that they will not be required to return to work until January, and Apple Inc. has similarly delayed its plans.

"The road ahead may be a little longer and bumpier than we hoped, yet I remain optimistic that we will get through it together," Pichai wrote.
