COVID Treatment Charges at Private Hospitals Approved by Govt

The COVID situation in Karnataka is becoming miserable by the day. The State reported 23,706 fresh Covid cases and 328 deaths on Thursday, this brought the total number of cases to 17.5 lakhs and 16,884 deaths. There were 23,106 cases and 161 deaths in Bengaluru Urban. According to the health bulletin released on Wednesday, 26,841 people have been discharged and active cases are 4,87,288.

In Karnataka, Tumakuru and Mysuru are the second major COVID hotspots with 2,790 and 2,335 cases after Bengaluru. Udupi is next with 1,655 cases, Mandya 1,621, Hassan 1,604, Dakshina Kannada 1,529, Bengaluru Rural 1,033, in Dharwad 1,030 and 1,009 in Chikkamagaluru. 

The government on Thursday approved revised packages rates allowed to be charged by private hospitals for COVID-19 patients based on referrals made by public health authorities. 

As per an order issued by Chief Secretary P Ravi Kumar, a patient in a general ward can be charged Rs 5200 per day, while a bed with an HDU (high-dependency unit) can be charged Rs 8,000 per day.

General Ward Per Day-  Rs 5,200

HDU Per Day-  Rs 8,000

Isolation ICU without Ventilator-  Rs 9,750

Isolation ICU with Ventilator-  Rs 11,500
