As the Modi-led Government is slated to expand the Cabinet after it won the 2019,a new Ministry was created on Tuesday. In a historic move, a separate ‘Ministry of Co-operation’ was created to realise the government's vision of ‘Sahkar se Samriddhi’.
The Union Government in a press release stated that the new Ministry will provide a separate administrative, legal and policy framework for strengthening the cooperative movement in the country.
It will help deepen co-operatives as a true people based movement reaching upto the grassroots.
The new Ministry will work to streamline processes for Ease of Doing Business for co-operatives and enable development of Multi-State Co-operatives.
The Central Government has signaled its deep commitment to community-based developmental partnership. The creation of a separate Ministry for Co-operation also fulfils the budget announcement made by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating a separate Ministry of Cooperation. In a tweet, Shah said, with this visionary decision of Mr Modi, a new dawn of prosperity will come in the agriculture and the rural sector. He said, for the last seven years, the Modi Government is continuously working for the welfare of the villages, poor, and farmers of the country. He expressed confidence that the historic decision will empower the cooperative sector and its people and will take India's cooperative sector to new heights.

With the establishment of this new Ministry, the government is likely to appoint someone during Wednesday's Cabinet reshuffle.
