Kiran Mazumdar Shaw Tests COVID-19 Positive

BENGALURU: Biocon's Executive Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar Shaw has tested positive for coronavirus. She took to her Twitter and announced that she has been added to the coronavirus count. She tweeted as, "I have added to the COVID-19 count by testing positive. Mild symptoms and I hope it stays that way."

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw had recently said that India must now draw up its immunization strategy, as the coronavirus vaccine will be ready at any time between the end of this year and the middle of next year.

Replying to her tweet, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said, "So sorry to hear this, Kiran Shaw. We need you hale and hearty soon! Be well, my friend." Here is the tweet.

Sowmya Swaminathan also replied to Kiran's tweet and tweeted 'Get Well soon'. Here is the tweet.

Karnataka and Bengaluru, are among the worst affected coronavirus regions in the country. On Monday, there are 2,33,283 active coronavirus cases in Karnataka which includes 4,062 deaths and 1,48,562 discharges. Bengaluru Urban has more number of coronavirus cases and it reported 2,053 fresh cases on Monday, taking its overall tally to 91,864 cases.

Recently, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, health minister B Sriramulu, and two other cabinet ministers have also tested positive for coronavirus. Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had also tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

On Monday, India's coronavirus tally crossed the 26 lakh mark. A total of 50,921 people died due to COVID-19. Globally, there are 21.7M active coronavirus cases, out of which 13.7M recovered and 776K people succumbed to COVID-19.
