Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission: On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the launch of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), a database of healthcare papers that would allow individuals to digitally access their previous medical reports.

PM Modi stated during the initiative's launch that it had the "potential of bringing a revolutionary change in India's healthcare facilities." The mission's success, however, will be heavily reliant on the private sector, which provides 60 to 70% of the country's healthcare services.

What Is The Procedure For Becoming A Member Of ABDM?

You can self-register for the ABDM programme on its website, which will create your health ID, a random 14-digit number. This ‘unique' health id can be used for health document identification, authentication, and threading.

Alternatively, any government or commercial hospital or healthcare institution can create it.

In addition to the ID, you'll need to create a Personal Health Records (PHR) address for consent management and future access to your data.

What Are The Features Of ABDM?

Any ABDM recipient may access their digital health data in one place, including information on admission, treatment, and discharge.

Apart from digitising medical data, ABDM wants to grow into telemedicine to provide consumers with digital access to recognised doctors all across the country.

PM Modi stated at the launch that ABDM will connect digital health solutions from hospitals around the country.

What About The Aadhaar Mandate And Data Security Concerns?

This service does not need you to link your Aadhaar number. You may use your phone number to register on the site.

Beneficiaries' health records are not maintained on the ABDM site, according to the NHA. The papers can only be shared through the ABDM network "with encryption mechanisms" with the beneficiary's agreement.
