New Delhi: 'MSP (Minimum Support Price) tha, MSP hai aur MSP rahega' (MSP was there, MSP is there, MSP will remain in the future) said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Rajya Sabha on Monday amid the ongoing farmers' protests against the Centre's contentious farm laws.
On the farm sector and the ongoing protest, Modi said, “MSP was there. MSP is there. MSP will remain in the future. Affordable ration for the poor will continue. Mandis will be modernized”.
"We are ready for talks and I am inviting you from this House. MSP tha, MSP hai aur MSP rahega (Minimum Support Price will remain). No one should spread misinformation, “he further said while replying to the Motion of Thanks on President's speech in the Rajya Sabha.
Speaking on the agricultural reforms in Rajya Sabha on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the minimum support price (MSP) would continue.
He quoted former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the need for reforms in the farm sector and said Congress should take pride that Modi had to do what the former Prime Minister wanted.
The PM further said that other schemes, like the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), also helped farmers in different ways. He further explained, "When the road connectivity improves, it enables the produce to reach distant places."
